I wasn't surprised when I heard that Duane Reade closed down their W 47th St & 8th Ave branch two weeks ago as it wasn't the only business closing in He-l's Kitchen this year. The rent is getting too high (though that's nothing new, honestly it's a tale as old as time in New York) and I know people aren't keen on working anymore in this post pandemic era. With all those troubles I would have been more surprised if Duane Reade was still open.
