Thread regarding Anthropologie

Making a comeback

Anthropologie's early years were amazing. The first skirt I bought there was a wool wrap-around in "eggplant". Find some of their old catalogs, and you'll see an appproach different from other stores. The brands they carried featured classy looks, and adorable details with buttons shaped like flowers or shells, matching a silk belt with a wool garment or a bit of embroidery. It had to meet a certain standard of quality that I haven't seen since. Those clothes were meant to last.
When Anthropologie changed it was in response to the way we shop. What's in style right now? I'm hearing again "anything 70s inspired" (Please, no).
We changed how we shop in response to working from home, and other changes in the world. Working from home, we don't see those cute crop pants, the embroidered belt, or any details. Left with no clues to follow as we emerge into the world again, some of us wear clothes we bought to "get by", with as much sustainance as fast-food. The fabrics aren't made to last more than a season.
Perhaps as the world regains its strength we will begin to take an interest in going out shopping with friends again. That's what our favorite stores were all about; days of trying on outfits and choosing what we loved. I hope we see the return of those days. Meantime, hang on to whatever "classic" clothes you have left and pair them with great accessories and new shoes.
