Umami, I think, is open and not closed.

What is their "failure"? What did they fail to do?

It's just wasn't that liked in Oakland

I heard that - not sure if it's true

They are not closing, Umami is expanding big time and adding restaurants. No location is closing for now and all is good.

This was one of my favorite burger place and they closed their doors at Hermosa Beach.
