We tried Applebees and we ended up having to leave because nobody ever brought our food out. There was only one other small group of people in the resturant also.

Its all about food. The food is bad and the menu is old fashioned, loaded with bad fats, carbs. Fix the menu you fixed the company.
We sat forever because the waiter for our table hadn't come to work yet. Really?! No one else could take those tables to provide service to their customers? It was a long wait. Also, they keep changing the menu! And not for the better. Seems like it changed monthly and they kept eliminating the best meals. The wood-fired grills were a waste of money with nothing on the menu worth eating. The menu used to be pretty good, but there's no longer anything on it that hubby and I will eat.
I don't doubt many locations are closing. Every one I've been to has had horrible service, uncaring servers, brain-dead managers and disgusting food. Not worth the money any way you look at it.
