Payless is having trouble. Layoffs in the home office, closing locations. Abandoning intl. expansion.

They may fold like Wet Seal a few weeks back - no cash. Mall traffic dropping. Everyone closing stores. I'd hate to own property in malls now.

Payless plans to close between 350 and 500 stores within the next three years. The main idea is to open a super store. This will give them competitiveness with the DSWs.
