Sears will be leaving Athens this October. Their Georgia Square Mall location on Atlanta Highway is one of the stores that will be closing this fall. Such a shame. Personally, it was a lovely store but being lovely isn't enough sometimes it seems.

My now deceased father moved the family to Chicago for it;s better economy and got a job when Sears was going retail. His job lasted a lifetime including the Great Depression era

i HATE TO SEE THIS STORE CLOSE,

The closing of this store is inevitable. When it comes (and it will) nobody should be shocked that it had happened.

Corporate was no help at all at this Sears store but I wouldn't go that far and say that I'm happy to see it go... that seems too mean-spirited for my taste. Still, it was unlikely that Sears would have survived being in the Staten Island Mall anyway... — read more 

I knew this would happen...... like they said no store is safe and my instincts told me that the Sears in the Willowbrook Mall will be next on the chopping block sooner or later. I detest that I am right, but what can you do?

I used to do a lot of shopping at the Ohio Valley Mall Sears in St. Clairsville. Can't believe it won't be open anymore. What will replace it? Some would like a Target, but I don't know. I never liked their stores myself.

Not a lot to say about this, is there? Except, maybe, that July 27th is my birthday. So I could consider the Sears closing in Marshfield, Wisconsin on that date a birthday gift of some sort. It's not a welcome one though.

It's said that both the store and auto center will close in the fall. I'm sad that they'll soon be put out of business.
